shouldnt there be alot more limitations to a gunner class? like weak defenses but high power. skill being an important factor to them but hard to gain. etc?

What i want to say is totally not related to any archers. why can't there be a wyvern rider using axe (polearms and such) and lance only? I find the rider being able to hit a target below on the wyvern with the swords pathetic range completely absurd.

in the path of radiance and radiant dawn games the wyvern lords dont use swords at all. they can only use the lance and axe.
